Isabelle recieved her degree in civil engineering from the University of Sherbrooke, QC. Her current research intends to promote the use of recycled glass in shotcrete. As a matter of fact, in some cases, it is cheaper for some municipalities to send glass waste to landfills instead of paying recycling companies to reinsert it into the consumption loop. It is therefore an interesting avenue for the shotcrete industry, since, non-negligible quantities of this material could be entrapped in concrete thus reducing the need for additional cementitious materials. Isabelle’s results demonstrate that its use minimizes rebound and can properly encapsulate large sizes of reinforcing bars or obstacles. A more detailed description of Isabelle's research can be found on her recently published on Shotcrete magazine.
